What is IFSC code?
IFSC is a short of Indian Financial System Code which is an alphanumeric code that facilitates electronic funds transfer in India. A unique Code identifies particular branch of a participating bank in the two main Payment and settlement systems in India: namely RTGS and NEFT which are used to route the messages to the destination banks/branches on payment settlement.

Format of IFSC code:
Indian Financial System Code consist of 11-characters with the 1st four alphabetic characters representing the bank name, and the last six characters (Numaric or Alphabetic) representing the branch. The fifth character is 0 (zero) and reserved for future use.
